What do you mean by "unloading Evolution"?

FWIW: Un-installing packages *MUST* not touch any user files. There is
absolutely no excuse at all, if any RPM takes my user files with it,
when being un-installed. I would be *highly* surprised, if any Evo
package touches your home dir during install/un-install.

So, what did you do exactly, when "unloading"? ;-)

Well, you don't need to import anything, as you already didi it
previously.

Regarding the hits on non-existent mails: Maybe you have some old
indexing files around? Expunged Trash?

In a terminal, run 'gdb evolution-2.0'. On the prompt, type 's',
Evolution will start.

If you get a crash later on, you will get that gdb prompt back. If you
are after freezes, hit Ctrl-C when it freezed and you will get the
prompt.

At that prompt, type 'thread apply all bt' and save all the output
(likely multiple pages). Quit gdb with 'q' when you got the prompt back.
