XD2 has pretty much nothing to do with laptop power management.  We ship
xscreensaver, which can make some monitors go into standby when a
keyboard/mouse haven't been touched in a while, but that's a separate
issue.  This is an apm/acpi issue which should be handled by the
underlying distribution.
