There should be lots of ways to close it. You say it has a title bar -- in which case it must have a close button on the far right of the title bar. Doesn't that work? In my version of Adobe Acrobat Reader clicking anywhere in the About dialog closes the window. As a last resort opening a terminal and issuing the command "killall acroread" ought to do the trick.
