Unless I am just not getting the obvious and anyone else has a solution
for this...

It feels like a bug to me. However, fixes to the 1.4.x versions [1] are
not very likely at this point, unless they are security fixes. The next
stable major release Evolution 2.0 is currently under heavy development.


Questions like this are probably best asked on the Evolution mailing
list [2], as this one is dedicated to all aspects of Ximian (Desktop)
related questions and discussions.

If this really is a bug, please file it in bugzilla.ximian.com.
