OpenOffice installation?

According to Red Carpet, I have the latest OpenOffice
(1.1.1-0.ximian.8.1.1.53) installed, but there are no links in the menu
to get to it. Now, I can create a launcher to get to oowriter, or
ooffice, but I was trying to get it done in a "clean" fashion. I'm about
to recommend SuSE/XD2 for a small office deployment, and want to get all
these things nailed down before the clients see it. How do I get this to
install "properly"?
