We update some low-level libraries that are very widely used (libxml, libxml2, libxslt, glib). Reverting to the SUSE versions of those libraries would probably make the rest of the process more tractable. If you're mostly interested in just switching back to KDE/kdm, edit /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager to have it use kdm. You'd need to do that in any event. -Mark Gordon
