What, you want options for the configure script in the source tarball?
Check the spec file from the source packages for Red Hat Linux 9.
That's probably the best place to start, assuming the binary packages
for that don't work as-is.

Downloaded binaries from the source ftp site?  Um... that doesn't make
any sense.  When I say "binaries", I mean *.i386.rpm (for example).  By
"source packages" I mean *.src.rpm, and "source tarball" is *.tar.gz.
Red Carpet can only be used to download binaries, which don't exist for
your platform, unless someone else built them.

Red Carpet won't help if you're not running a supported platform.  Red
Carpet only provides channels that provide packages for your platform.
If you were running a supported platform, a channel with binary packages
would be visible.

There is no binary package for your platform.  File-> Install isn't
going to work.  rpm -Uvh isn't going to work.  You have three options
for your platform:

- build from source, using the source tarball.  It may be tricky to get
this to work; some hackery of configuration files will be needed if you
install to /usr/local.  You'll also need to make sure you have all the
necessary software needed to build from source.
- build binary packages from source packages.  This may require some
spec file hackery, and it may also require build dependencies you don't
have installed.
- find packages somebody else (i.e. not Ximian) built for your platform.
