At least it's on the radar, then. That's a relief. I had unpacked the
sources, and was thinking about -- gulp! -- actually trying to lend a
hand!

And, of course, you were right. ;-)

Being as I've thoroughly evaluated Fedora, Debian, and Gentoo (and
looked at Mandrake) before settling on SuSE after Red Hat screwed
themselves, the recent changes in ownership and direction of the company
make me insanely happy. The best Gnome desktop in the business (as well
as the best KDE desktop) make SuSE a really compelling case to, well,
most everyone, and this will be a great differentiator in attracting new
users to the distro. I, for one, hope that SuSE *doesn't* support other
distros with whatever Ximian Desktop morphs into. Let them have the
sources, and let them deal with it. If users want the ease of use and
installation that comes with SuSE/XD, let them throw away their stupid
distro, and get a real one. ;-)

Now, the only downside I see is that this change will cause what used to
be XD list traffic to go to suse-linux-e, which tends to be a bit of a
zoo. Such advocacy as I've written above would usually draw
"suggestions" to take it to suse-ot. Been there. Won't be back.

Regards,
dk
