rcd connection refused

I just installed all the SuSE 9.0 rpms over my SusE 8.2 and installed
the suse-90-i586 files for red-carpet.

Logged in as root, I start rcd and verify it's running with ps -A.

When I start red-carpet it prompts me to start the daemon. Then gives me
the error message "Connection Refused".

Can anyone give me a clue what I'm missing? I don't get any dependency
errors installing the red-carpet rpm's.

The problem is I can't start red-carpet to check the integrity of my
installation to fix red-carpet.
