OT (sort of): firefox .9 and profile manager

okay it used to be when i clicked on a link in evolution it would
either:

open up firefox (if firefox wasn't running)
or
open up the link in a new tab (if ff is running).

but no more. now when i click on a link in evolution it opens up that
dreaded profile manager. how can i get around this? i've searched google
high and low and found this script:

#!/bin/bash
FIREFOX_PATH="/opt/firefox/"
$FIREFOX_PATH/firefox -remote "openURL($@, new-tab)" || exec 
$FIREFOX_PATH/firefox "$@";

but that doesn't work either. 

anyone with any help would be greatly appreciated.
