Well, we cannot tell you if your Evolution is configured to use SA by
filters. That's entirely left to you, as you (or your admin) must have
manually added those filters, if they are part of your Evo settings.

Evolution 1.4.x does not use any Spam fighting software by default.


Once again: If there are no Evolution filters calling SA, this is not an
Evolution issue. Please check your Tools / Filters before responding.

Apart from this you haven't mentioned the mail account type. Is this
POP3, IMAP or whatever?

Again: I cannot tell you anything, unless I know the SA version, any
(custom) configurations and how SA is invoked.

Uh?? This is way too long -- in any case, whether SA is called by
Evolution filters or SA already was run on an MTA stage.

The former takes some time, but 1 minute per mail is way too much --
even with Evolution calling 'spamassassin' (rather than 'spamd' daemon)
for any mail this excessive time period seems to reveal some broken SA
settings.

The latter will not have any impact on the time needed to retrieve new
messages.

Well, I probably can do this, if I know your environment. Who is the
admin of your box and the mail server? How do get your mail and how is
SA invoked?

Left with the little information we got so far, there is no way to help
you...
