Just came across another possible solution at Evolution mailing list:
http://lists.ximian.com/archives/public/evolution/2004-June/038365.html
Running 'gnome-settings-daemon' (for example adding it to your KDE
session) might have the potential to cure this issue as well.
This likely is a good idea for anyone running Evolution on a KDE
desktop. And nope, still not using any KDE app myself... ;)
