Primarily bug fixes.  Too many to list.

I don't have gcc 4.1 installed could someone check that it does compile 
with it.  Also check with the upcoming gcc 4.2, if anyone has that 
installed.

A new release should be coming in one or two weeks.  It is long overdue.
