Spanish Aspell

Hi everybody! I have read in the web that the Aspell approximate-matching algorithm "is specific to English": http://fmg-www.cs.ucla.edu/fmg-members/geoff/ispell.html#aspell I suppose the algorithm can be modified to be adapted to some other languages; do you know any group or individual that have made an adaptation of this algorithm to languages such or Spanish? We have built a new Spellchecker for Spanish (with demo in http://demos.bitext.com/DataSpell), and we're looking for comparison data with the available Open Source spellcheckers. Thanks a lot!
