custom medical dictionary

I am working on creating a custom medical dictionary and I want to add
words that have the slash character in them i.e.
w/o
w/gangrene
w/whatever...
I am using the --dont-validate-words and --dont-validate-affixes
options but these words are still ignored... Any Ideas?
