Delay and Jitter Buffer

Hi to all,

in my application I can perceive about 1 second of delay from the source to
my application (standing in the same LAN) ...
is this delay normal or too high? Should I modify some paramenters, like
jitter buffer?

Any hints on how can I handle jitter buffer?
