Can you let me know the version of GNU Chess you have with that. And try saving the position as an epd file 1r5K/6PP/8/8/8/1k4q1/6P1/8 w - - 0 1 And running at the command line. In both cases it correctly reports 1/2 - 1/2 stalemate for me. Simon
