Indeed.  I was a sometime contributor to Cons, but I have switched our build 
system over from Cons to SCons, mostly because it is under active 
development and it already has everything Cons had and more.  It is still 
pretty new and does have some bugs, but it is maturing rapidly.  I suggest 
you check it out.

I am sorry to see Cons go, but its best ideas live on in SCons.
