I think [email protected] would be fine. That list is for "general discussion".

It probably does make sense to create a "help-" one. But
[email protected] does not get a ton of traffic, so I don't think anyone
there would mind.

Not speaking for Paul, as he may have a different reason for thinking
this...

But there more purpose-built applications nowadays to securely remove
data from a drive. For example BleachBit, which Americans might know of
because of a political controversy associated with it [1].

Regardless, most governments and and some cooperations will require
degaussing at the minimum [2]. And likely require more than that,
i.e. physically breaking the drive.
