[patch 00/15] build system fixes against 20070207 cvs

Hi dotgnu developers,

Here's a reworked patch queue for the build system. It is basically my
last queue, reworked against cvs dated from 20070207, so I hope that it
still applies.

I know that it probably needs more work and discussion, but I wanted to
push this out of the door before leaving for the Embedded World today.
Feel free to drop & discuss things as they come.

I've read about your release plans for pnet on #dotgnu; please make sure
that the packet survives a proper 'make distcheck' before actually
releasing, as this is the only way to make sure that the package is
consistent (well, in-tree building has to be tested separately).
