I've put together some ebuilds for the current gnue-common and gnue-appserver.
They are available here:
http://www.orwex.net/gnue-dev/dev-gnue_overlay_20040728.tar.bz2

Unpack the tar.bz2 in your PORTDIR_OVERLAY (usually /usr/local/portage) and then
run: emerge dev-gnue/gnue-common and emerge dev-gnue/gnue-appserver (best to
put a --pretend first, to check dependencies).
