I'm afraid it's not your box. I downloaded and installed the latest release 
yesterday, just to keep some idea of the progresses, and got the same error. 
And not in Linux but in W2000.

I guess something changed in Common, but as Designer isn't being updated along 
Common and Forms, it's broken regarding those new releases.
