I'm not sure I find that really useful (when I'm copying one file,
I can do 
	watch ls -l
in another window)

But I would like to see some type of status when moving trees -- -v 
is too much...maybe a status every N files or N bytes moved?
Something more generic than this?

Maybe something like that could accomplish you're purpose too?
