I am just trying this. It is now using 16 MB (and climbing). If you
consider this a bug then I will be happy to try making a small file set
that reproduces the bug. Will it be sufficient proof if cp is using 5 MB
of RAM?

Is there any other thing that can influence on the RAM usage? E.g. version
of glibc, version of kernel, version of filesystem?
