Follow-up Comment #8, bug #57461 (group findutils):
Right now findutils 4.9.0 do not build on my PowerBook G4 with Mac OS X 10.5.8
because the subdirectory trees confdir-14B--- and confdir3 cannot be removed.
Adding gl_cv_func_getcwd_path_max=no to configure's list of arguments (that's
the way MacPorts works) still produces a failure – but only with
confdir-14B---. The routine that creates the confdir3 tree was obviously not
used.
In a different thread on the bug-gnulib list Paul Eggert suggested in March:
gl_cv_func_getcwd_succeeds_beyond_4k=no. Using this as additional "argument"
for configure lets configure finish – and MacPorts build the port. On the
MacPorts bug report, https://trac.macports.org/ticket/62994, the first
solution was to use 'gl_cv_func_getcwd_path_max=yes', the Paul Eggert's
solution was tried and seemed to fail, so now presumingly
'gl_cv_func_getcwd_path_max="yes, but with shorter paths"' is used.
For me the MacPorts solution fails obviously in case of findutils…
