Hi folks,

Here's take two of my proposed man page changes.

Among the revisions:

* Summarize commits in Bernhard Volker's style.
* Use a more portable method of protecting literals from hyphenation.
* Clarify and correct commit messages.
* Stop using 'x' column modifier in tables due to its unportability.
* Stop supplying man(7) macros more than six arguments, which is not
  portable.
* Apply a highly permissive license (CC0) to these changes; see below.
