I am ultra ultra swamped currently as I said before on this list. I will be 
back to life after 2nd of july or very soon afterwards unless there is 
another important deadline that emerges. 

I think it makes sense for you to contact Thomas Deselaers. I do not know if 
he is still on the list (at my place he is #1 at Google for his name, so I 
can avoid feeding his mail address to the spammers here).

My suggestion for the time being: The domain socket is unused currently. I 
*wanted* to create a desktop search engine (back in 2002) based on GIFT and 
the domain sockets are parts of this initiative.

So remove CDomainSocket from the approxpriate Makefile.am, and chances are 
that it will compile.
