map reduce and gift

Hi,

I am using gift on my linux machine to do some experiment. It  takes time to
do indexing. I wonder if it is possible to apply map reduce algorithm to
gift to improve the performance? And if it is possible to do incremental
indexing? Can somebody shed some light on the indexing?
