Hello again,

After a while, I seemed to able to solve my problem with the gift-config.mr=
ml. I can also start the GIFT server. My problem now is with the client int=
erface. I've tried to download SnakeCharmer, but it goes to a non-existing =
page not to mention a lot of people have problems with it. Browsing the mai=
ling list there was a suggestion of using a php interface, could you please=
explain further ( I really don't understand how to do this).

Thank you.

Regards,
Rahayu

Current CVS should compile.=20

I fully agree. But I wanted to take the opportunity to have him test curren=
t CVS and see if it works now. And not only works-for-me (TM)=20

Hi Rahayu, thanks for pointing us to this problem (Ubuntu). Would you be in=
terested in actually compiling & installing a new version of GIFT "by hand"=
? Are you able to receive big e-Mails?=20
Charmer is rarely a problem. The overwhelming majority of users who report =
problems have in fact problems with JAVA's rights management.=20

What are you using, currently? GIFT as provided by Ubuntu? I think this sho=

The gift-config.mrml should be automatically generated if it is not there o=

GIFT is a server, and one needs a client to connect to that server.=20

This might not be very well document but you should find this in the GIFT r=
eadmes. There is a command gift-add-collection.pl Calling this perl script =
with the option --help will give you all the parametres required.=20
The easiest interface to use might be the php interface available from the =
web pages. If your PC is accessible from the Internet you can also use an e=
xisting interface such as the one on http://medgift.unige.ch/demo/ and conn=
ect to your IP address and the port you started GIFT with.=20
There is indeed very little documentation on GIFT and it will require some =
manual work.=20

Hi,=20
then gift seems to be working properly. You need to index a database before=
starting gift makes sense. You also need a client interface to actually us=
e a started gift server with a database.=20
There is not much documentation but the most important commands are describ=
ed in the readme, I think.=20

I have never used the Ubuntu package, so it is hard for me to reproduce the=
