I agree with your idea completely.
I noticed my wrong description.

The right description is as follows.
$ global --nearness <tag> # nearness sort based on the current
directory
$ global --nearness=<start point directory> <tag>
# nearness sort based on the start point
directory
In other words, the default value of <start point directory> is the current
directory.
