It's basically the same thing, I just do it before (modifying the
candidate path) rather than after (stripping a colon from the new path).

I've released 6.6.14 on my site, along with an updated patch (uses
back2slash in a few more places and checks the candidate path doesn't
already start with '/'; it also allows creating tag files greater than
2GiB, fixing an older issue with my releases).
