It is further limited by memory. Which size can really be solved depends on the structure of your problem. The problem described in https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/GLPK/Scalable_Vector_Graphics#Clustering has 250002 rows, 250000 columns, 999000 non-zeros 250000 integer variables, all of which are binary. It is solved in under 10 minutes on an i5-6300U. For this problem type the solution of the LP relaxation matches the integer solution. Even problems with less than 100 integer variables may be unsolvable with GLPK.
