still don't understand. to me it seems that this exception is thrown
before anything interesting happens.

e.g.
$ echo "print('helloworld')" > hw.py
$ gnucap -a .libs/python.so
gnucap> python hw.py
ImportError: numpy.core.multiarray failed to import
ImportError: numpy.core.multiarray failed to import

the deprecation warnings are triggered by
"#include <numpy/arrayobject.h>".
perhaps the numpy people provide a solution/transition.
