no time beyond simple "does it compile" and "does it run a simple 
example from examples/", but the answer is a double yes on the systems I 
tried:

64-bit, NetBSD-2, alpha, g++-3.3.3
32-bit, SunOS-5.9, sparc, g++-3.3.5
64-bit, Linux-2.4, x86_64, g++-3.2.3
32-bit, NetBSD-4, i386 (pentium 4), g++-4.1.2

no compiler warnings produced on any of those.
