MMRests cause weirdness following \cadenzaOff

I've been wrestling with this mystery for some hours.  I've finally found how to trigger it. The multimeasure rest causes the duplication of the rests in the display in previous measures.  A non-multimeasure rest does not result in the weird duplication.  If this is a known issue I missed the notice.
