Re: On issue #6776 (Petrucci flag glyphs)

Hey again! Thanks for the notes :) I have a few samples of down-stem flags
(I've not found two-flag glyphs yet), and a few observations.
Firstly, the down-stem flags! They're more common than I would've thought
despite Petrucci's weird stem direction rules. Here's some samples:

There's this many to bring your attention to something peculiar: Petrucci
puts the flag on the right like twice, and then never again, always on the
left. I saw maybe three cases including those two first images of down-stem
flags to the right of the stem? And then *always* left. Might be an
“evolving style” thing bc he does the right flag in 1501 in the Odhecaton
and afterwards it's always left flag. So there's something to consider or
discard (or turn into a property for the user to tweak, idk). There's also
the question of whether the lil point of the flag should touch the staff
line or not, like in the second note of the first sample.

(It's also worth noting that the second edition of all the Motetti de la
corona books, Pasoti & Dorico lean more regular mensural with their flags
while retaining other aspects of Petrucci's style:)

As for two-flag glyphs!! I've scoured about half the IMSLP archive now (and
thrown in a few encyclopaedias lmao), and I've not found anything, so I'm
disinclined to believe it exists, especially since 32nd notes seem to have
been more confined to treaties on notation, and Petrucci's catalogue goes
up to like 1519 and it's ALL sacred music. I'll keep looking! If it just
Does Not Exist, personally I'd recommend an incomplete second flag glyph,
since two flags stacked would look hella ugly in Petrucci's flag style imo.

And finally, a suggestion borne of Distraction™: neo-mensural flags for
smth thicker and shorter. I personally recommend these from Playford's
Apollo's Banquet (1669):

They're nice and compact, though bro is not too consistent in whether the
second flag is open or closed. This is just bc the regular ly mensural
double- and triple-flag glyphs are too tall really.
