What happened to "make test"?

At one time we bailed out on warnings, requiring lots of expect-warning
calls.

Now it appears like serious warnings like from

input/regression/beam-subdivide-max-limit.ly: \set Timing.beatStructure = 1

are getting ignored. Worse, actual errors like

out/lybook-testdb/12/lily-b0020de6.log:include-path-modification-i.ly:13:2: error: Guile signaled an error for the expression beginning here
out/lybook-testdb/12/lily-b0020de6.log:include-path-modification-i.ly:18:10: error: cannot find file: `include-test.ily'
out/lybook-testdb/12/lily-b0020de6.log:include-path-modification-i.ly:19:1: error: unknown command: `\testMarkupI'
out/lybook-testdb/12/lily-b0020de6.log:include-path-modification-i.ly:25:1: error: syntax error, unexpected end of input, expecting '.' or '='

are ignored as well?

Or is the latter because I am doing in-tree testing?
