My choir certainly does sing pieces in which we do a significant amount of
stagger breathing. But I guess we also care a lot about having sibilants
land at the exact same time. 🙂

Here’s how the Lassus example looks with bracketed “early release” rests:

(As I noted above, at the beginning of measure 11, there is an “original”
rest in the Tenor [T1] part, so that one doesn’t get brackets.)
