Apologies for not providing a minimal MWE, but I had the feeling that I 
had to explain fully what I was attempting to achieve with colors of bar 
lines.
Your idea of using github.com for the example solution sure does allow 
lengthy scores without clogging up the lilyuser group - I'll attempt to 
do a similar thing in the future.
In the meantime, I'll use your code in a "live" example of what I want 
to achieve with colors.
