Instead of “center line” I’d say ”non-voiced default” or something.
I tested a little more and realised that my own proposal was wrong
itself, because the rounding behaviour is more varied. Look at the
example below: with that state of affairs I’d say scrapping the property
altogether makes more sense than trying to give a useful description of
what it does. (As long as someone™ doesn’t create a better solution for
issue 3902, that is…) Surely once you’re overriding this vertical
position, you’ll very frequently want it outside the staff lines.
