mu-address-get-personal swallows UTF-8 encoded characters

Hi,
is it expected that “mu-address-get-personal” swallows non-ASCII
characters? Here’s an example:
(mu-address-get-personal "[email protected] (Edward Nunèz)")
$1 = "Edward Nunz"
Can this be avoided?
