Follow-up Comment #4:
I reverted the change for bug #64185 so make behaves the same as in GNU Make
4.4.1 and below.
However I added warnings when directives are found that use a TAB as the first
character so users will notice when this misbehavior is present. In a future
version of GNU Make we will make this an error and allow the correct parsing
of directives.
