Someone with regular Mac access who would be willing to write
better docs and provider timely Mac specific packages (dmg or
whatever is suitable) would be a great help.

Since the Mac philosophy seems to encourage LOTR packages I
might think a virtual machine or docker container or some
such might also suitably serve the Mac ecosystem ?
