In veterinary medicine, we do use sensors to get pulse and saturation, however they
usually have to be veterinary-specific (they are supposedly a bit more reliable) and
even then since most patients have fur, to get a reading sometimes gets tricky.

I think though these devices would be helpful for human medicine, and I'm sure human
doctors get patients that use those 'fit' bracelets that track pulse saturation etc and
give those informations to their doctor to review? Human doctors on the list I'm sure
would be able to give more detailed feedback :)

IMHO, being able to enter vitals manually would be a nice first step, because that
would mean people using the GNUmed android client would not need to get new hardware
or try to get their hardware to talk to GNUmed's android client, and could just measure
vitals and then register those manually in the android app...
