Example code

Does anyone have any example code the clearly shows how to insert a
string of text into an index as a value with an associated key that is
returned if you search on the index?
I have 2.6 million blobs of text with a numeric key. I need to insert
them into an index and then search on them and get back the numeric id
that was assigned to them.
