Patches?  What patches?  Oh ... thanks for pointing out the blatant
untruth of this statement:

which appears right at the top of the README on the download site, (and
is reproduced within the source tarball to which you refer).  I took
that at face value, and didn't look for patches, which may explain why I
was unable to realize a working Ada build, for the gcc-4.8.2 release
which I prepared recently, (in spite of having achieved an apparently
Ada enabled linux-to-mingw32 cross-compiler, in preparation for the
subsequent crossed-native build process).

Hmm.  That method of distribution needs to disappear, very quickly.
Earnie foisted it upon us, with no consultation whatsoever; IMO, it is
every bit as disgusting as the mgwport rubbish he's trying to replace.
I'd like us to move towards a standard, based on my own mingw-pkg tool:

but not without an appropriate prior consultation process.
