Oh, yes, I forgot to mention: when you "update" your tree to modern
cygwin-1.7 sources, you ALSO have to update the underlying newlib -- and
apply all necessary msys-ization patches to IT.  cygwin-1.7 requires a
lot of stuff from "modern" newlib.
