Thanks for looking into this.
Good on you to note that the two-outputs form of 'system' still does the right
thing; that looks like a good workaround for my purpose (i.e., io package).
(I got a new io package release ready, but then this bug suddenly popped up.
With the workaround I think I can get it released this week, i.e., before
Octave 11.)
BTW: GUI, CLI or experimental terminal widget makes no difference for the
bug.
