[bug #67498] Error when using save -binary

Please use the bug tracker to post updates to a bug report.  The mailing list is intended as a read-only notification stream.  Info posted to this mailing list address won't appear in the tracker database where it is most useful.

I added a commit message and pushed the change from comment #26 to the stable
branch (hg id 0fd551769b85).

Nightly builds with that change should be available in a day or two from
https://nightly.octave.org/#/download

@Johannes: Could you please check then if that improves the behavior for you?
