@jayant: Matlab has not been very helpful in documenting the "select" input
parameter.  I think you will need to run various test cases in Matlab and
discover what they are doing.  If you don't have Matlab, you can ask for help
on the Octave Discourse web site (https://octave.discourse.group/c/help/6).

 That gives some idea about how clustering is supposed to work.
